CARTOON VOICES / VOICE-OVER

Create Characters. Find Your Voice. Bring Stories to Life. Cartoon Voices / Voice-Over is a fun, small-group performance program where students learn how to create characters, use their voices expressively, work with microphones, read scripts, and bring stories to life.

Students explore cartoon voices, narration, commercials, character dialogue, silly voices, accents, sound, timing, expression, and microphone performance in a real studio setting.

This program helps students build confidence, imagination, vocal control, reading expression, storytelling ability, and performance energy through active voice-over training.

Class size is limited so each student has time to practise, record, listen back, receive coaching, and improve.

Parent Viewing Area

Parents are always welcome to stay and view classes during their child’s session. Thornhill Acting Studio has a parent viewing area where parents may sit back, relax, enjoy a coffee, and quietly watch the class while it is taking place.

We ask that parents remain quiet during class time so students can stay focused, participate fully, and enjoy the training experience. Thank you for helping us maintain a positive, respectful, and focused studio environment for all students.

Description

Cartoon Voices / Voice-Over gives students a playful and practical way to build confidence through voice performance. Students learn that voice acting is not only about making funny sounds.

It is about creating a character, understanding the script, using clear speech, adding expression, controlling energy, and making the listener believe the performance.

Classes may include vocal warm-ups, silly voice challenges, character creation, narration, commercial reads, cartoon dialogue, microphone practice, recording, playback, and coaching.

Students are encouraged to use their imagination, take creative risks, try different voices, listen carefully, and adjust their performance after feedback.

The program helps students build vocal confidence, reading expression, performance focus, creativity, and the ability to speak with more energy and personality.

Because students work with microphones and recording equipment, class size is limited to allow each student meaningful practice time.

Who This Class Is For

Cartoon Voices / Voice-Over is designed for students who enjoy characters, animation, acting, storytelling, microphones, reading aloud, silly voices, or creative performance.

It is also helpful for students who need to become more confident speaking, reading out loud, expressing themselves, using vocal energy, or performing in front of others.

Students do not need previous voice-over experience to join.

They do need to be willing to participate, read simple scripts, try different voices, use their imagination, and take turns at the microphone.

Students should be able to read independently.

Placement may be based on age, reading ability, experience, confidence, and instructor approval.

Studio Experience

Classes take place in a working performance studio where students can practise with microphones, scripts, recording equipment, playback, coaching, and live performance exercises.

Students learn by doing. They try a voice, record it, listen back, receive direction, adjust the performance, and try again. This gives students a real sense of how voice-over work happens and helps them become more comfortable hearing, using, and controlling their own voice.

Confidence Through Voice

Voice training helps students build confidence in a different way. Some students are nervous to speak loudly. Some rush when they read. Some speak too quietly.

Some have great imagination but need help expressing it clearly.

Cartoon Voices / Voice-Over gives students a fun reason to use more energy, take creative risks, speak clearly, and perform with expression. Because the work is playful, students often become braver without feeling like they are being forced into formal public speaking.

The goal is to help students become more confident, expressive, creative, and comfortable using their voice.

The Bigger Communication Pathway

Cartoon Voices / Voice-Over is part of the broader communication and performance pathway at Thornhill Acting Studio.

Students who continue developing their skills may later move into Acting for Camera, Public Speaking & Presentation, Million Dollar Youth, Debate Club, media-style speaking, audition work, and on-camera performance.

This program gives students a strong foundation in voice, expression, creativity, confidence, reading performance, and character work.
