TV COMMERCIALS

This course is suitable for students wanting to further develop their acting for camera skills to a more professional level for the very lucrative TV commercial markets.

Advanced students will receive more demanding material that presents even greater challenges for them.

In this workshop, Mr. Healy will take each student through the TV commercial audition process using a series of more and more challenging TV commercial sides and actual products for students to gain valuable experience, from which they can later draw upon.

There are many different types of commercials and this workshop covers them all. Many times the actor may be siting, standing, walking, cooking, or doing other physical activities while doing their commercial.

Each actor will also experience being a TV HOST for a TV show as well as working on the shopping channel mock up presentations. All work will do done on video for playback, review and reworking.

Then each student will experience the “on set” realities of working with a director, the commercial blocking, rehearsal and do a final production shoot while other students work as crew doing hair, make-up, wardrobe, and clapper board.

Mr. Healy will also cover: how the TV commercial business works, separation yourself from your competition, how to audition for TV commercials and callbacks, how to slate successfully, understanding storyboards, how to memorize your lines effectively, stepping into the audition room to make an impression, the importance of eye-contact, telling them about yourself, making mistakes at the audition, working with cue cards, working with the audition reader and eye lines, using upward and downward inflections and what to wear and not wear at the audition.

Actors work individually and in teams, in pairs learning to 'act and react" off each other and will also work off Mr. Healy who will be the off camera actor from time from time.
